How are you my lovely? Thank you for stopping by my little patch of the cyber.
I’m a bit of a mental butterfly, so at any one time there could be a bunch of different things going on in my life and, consequently, on in my business. So rather than just have you browse around and find something that seems odd and be all, “What? Where did that come from?” and leave, I wanted to give you a gentle introduction it all. Because not doing so might mean you miss out on something that would be really handy for you and that would make me sad. (High bounce rates make me sad too. What can I say? I’m a slave to the stats!)
There’s one big thing that ties it aaaaaaaaaall together though.
But I really hate that word because it’s been completely over used and now sounds trite. So instead I’ll put it another way… an alternative way…
I want to be the very best me I can be. And I want to help you to be the very best you you can be too.
I don’t want to do it with floaty ‘woo woo’ spoutings – I want to do it with concrete things that make a difference in your confidence, your approach and your abilities.
I might do that myself – with my own skills and talents, my own products and services, or I might do it by pointing you at some of the most gorgeous, talented and inspiring people I know. It entirely depends on what it is you need.
At the moment, I’m focussing the bulk of my attention on two areas:
- helping you grow your skills and confidence when writing;
- helping you take control of how you earn your money.
The writing thing
I edit. I can write, I can even write for other people, but I don’t want to. I want you to be able to write. I want you to feel confident about expressing yourself on paper (or screen). I don’t want that whole “I never got on with English at school” or “I’m dyslexic” thing to get in the way. I want you to know that you can be eloquent and erudite on paper, just as you are when you speak. And I want you to know it in your bones – not just in your head.
That’s right it. In. Your. Bones.
The income thing
When I was looking at setting up my business I read posts in various places that said things like, “If you work for someone else, your income is not secure!” They’re right of course, and I recognised it at the time. If you’re employed by someone else, you’re literally banking on the fact that they put money into your account, month after month after month.
What happens if they screw up and they can’t do it any more?
What happens if they just decide they don’t want to?
All of that came home to me in a very real way in January 2012. That stepped up my desire to help other people get to the place I’m moving to: a clutch of eggs in a bunch of baskets, so if something disappears it’s not a disaster. I want you to be the one holding most of the baskets. So you’re the one who decides if you want to ease back from one and ramp up another; you’re the one who decides if you want to set one down.
I want to help you make sure you’re never in the position I was in – part of the strongest team in town, but out of a job because someone five levels up didn’t want the building any longer.
So that’s me.
Feel free to have a poke about, sign up for updates on whichever bits you fancy. And don’t forget to tell me a little about you. You’re the reason I’m doing this after all!
Leave a comment, or drop me an email if you’re feeling a little shy. You can even tweet at me if you prefer. Tell me what you’re looking for, what’s bugging you, what’s holding you back. If I can’t help I probably know someone who can, and if I can, well – that’s groovy!
